The deliberations, ramblings, ponderings and sometimes humorous accounts of an addicted Digi scrapper and mother.
About Me
I am a mother, a partner, a scrapper, a designer, a taxi driver, a spell checker etc etc and apparently life 'began' for me on my birthday two years ago. *edited to add*: It has been brought to my attention that some people don't understand what I mean by 'Life began for me last year'. It is just a polite way of telling you how old I really am as there is a saying here in Australia that "Life Begins at 40".

Has it been a week already?
I really must get back into the swing of things and blog more regularly but just at the moment, my time is limited.
I do however have a couple of kit teasers for you.

Woo hoo! I'm excited. Well yes, I'm excited about the new kits coming out but I'm really excited because blogger just let me post all of these! LOL
Sooo, back to the kits. You'll just have to keep watching this blog to see when I release these - and where!

The Week in Review (otherwise titled "Did I Blink and miss it?")
So what happened to the past week?
It seems like yesterday we got back from the coast. However in the past week I have:
*Done my last shift at work (unless someone calls in sick or business picks up)
*Got the danged 'flu AGAIN!!
*Been to two family bbqs
*Celebrated the Man of the Houses' 40th birthday
*Discovered we have white ants in our retaining wall at the side of the driveway
*Done xxx (insert large number here) loads of washing and folding
*Finished one and a half kits
*Taken over 200 photos on my new Fuji Finepix S5600 (Did I tell you I got a new camera for my birthday? No? Well I did!! lol)
*Learned that it isn't wise to forget that the white mudcake gateaux your son makes at school doesn't keep well on the bench. (argh, how did I forget that he used fresh cream and strawberries.... and that we live in Queensland.... and that the weather is unseasonably warm at the moment).
*Realised that I have just over a week to get my photos organised and my submission in for the Beaudesert Show this year, and
*Put on 2 kilos (don't ask me how. Maybe because I was too sick to go to the gym).
So that is where my week has gone.
I'm feeling a little guilty because I haven't released anything new for a couple of weeks but once I pull it all together, I should release more at the beginning of September. I promise you that the wait will be worth it.
My 'to do' list just keeps getting longer and I feel as if I never see it finished but I'll just keep plugging away.
This week I have the children home two days - one for the Beaudesert holiday for the Brisbane Ekka and one for the Brisbane holiday for the Ekka. Also on one of those days, I have a distant cousin and her family coming to visit. They are over from Perth and we 'discovered' each other through genesreunited last year, so this week we finally get to meet.
Now let's see if I can post that photo of the Gold Coast that I took from the Q1?

A Weekend of Firsts
Wow! What a weekend we had. Although as is often the case with weekends, it didn't last long but we had the best time. It was so great just to be able to hang out with each other without having to worry about the children. We could sleep in without interruptions. We went shopping without having to put up with whining because of boredom ....or doing toilet stops ...or children wanting 20 different things for lunch. We even enjoyed a movie! Without having to tell someone to be quiet (well apart from the little monsters there who thought it would be fun to stomp up and down the aisles during the movie).
So, as I said - it was a weekend of firsts. Some of them good - some not so good.
First off - it was our first time staying in a 4 1/2star hotel in Surfers Paradise! That was cool. The room was nice but the bed was hard. LOL
Another first - I met Elvis!! rofl Bet you didn't know that he was alive and well - and living in Surfers Paradise? We found him outside the Hard Rock Cafe busking.

He was extremely entertaining. Sounded just like the real Elvis. Took requests. And handled the hecklers beautifully. There was a group of English schoolboys over on holidays and they just added to his act so well. And they were really quite polite - which is a definite bonus.
Another first - The man of the house and I both tried Sushi. I really liked it. He said he wouldn't go out of his way to buy it again. A first for the man of the house (but not for me) - he tried Oysters au naturale. Didn't like them so we opted for Kilpatrick the next time round. We also both tried Mussels for the first time. They were okay but not up there on my favourite seafood list!
Another first - we tried a Margarita. I think these are an acquired taste. Rum and Coke is more suited to our palette I think.
It was also our first time up the Q1 building. Oh my - my ears popped at least 3 times on the way up. But we finally landed on the 77th floor observation deck and then we went up to the 78th as well. I took a few photos but I really have to work out how to take photos and try to get rid of reflections.
Okay, I have tried several times to post a photo of the view here. I have even tried shutting down the computer and relogging back into blogger. I've resized the darn photo and everything but Blogger won't let me post it! I am getting slightly peeved with Blogger about now.
Unfortunately, one of the bad 'firsts' this weekend was being a minority group within my own country. Heck, I was only about an hour or so from home but Australians were in the minority in our hotel - and even in Surfers Paradise. Please don't get me wrong - I am not a racist but I honestly feel that guests in our country can at least be courteous to those whose homeland it is. On one occasion we caught the lift down from our room and when the doors opened we weren't even given the opportunity to alight before a middle-eastern gentleman barged his way in and dragged his family behind him. We had to push our way past his family to get off before the doors closed. And that was just one example.
I am not against people being proud of their culture or religion but is it too much to ask for common courtesy from a visitor. I wouldn't go to their country and be rude and obnoxious - so why do we tolerate it from them?
Anyway, that's my rant over.
But the most important thing was that I had an awesome weekend.
