The deliberations, ramblings, ponderings and sometimes humorous accounts of an addicted Digi scrapper and mother.

My Photo
Name: Sue Jones
Location: Australia

I am a mother, a partner, a scrapper, a designer, a taxi driver, a spell checker etc etc and apparently life 'began' for me on my birthday two years ago. *edited to add*: It has been brought to my attention that some people don't understand what I mean by 'Life began for me last year'. It is just a polite way of telling you how old I really am as there is a saying here in Australia that "Life Begins at 40".

How hot is it?

Truly. This heat is becoming oppressive. It's funny that at Christmas we were saying how un-summery it has been so far but now it's back - and it is steamy. Even with yesterday afternoon's little storm, it hasn't cooled it down much. Just added to the humidity. Still the rain was good for the grass. It was becoming brown and crunchy so this should 'green' things up a little bit.

Yesterday I met Sharyn (Serene) and her family when they came to my house to visit. I was so excited to meet them. This is the first time that I have met someone from online who is from o/seas. Sharyn and her family are aussies but living in Saudi Arabia and are the just the nicest people. Her children are adorable and so polite and well mannered. It truly was wonderful sharing that short time with you all.

Not much happening today in our little part of the world. I start work in just over half an hour but it is only for a couple of hours. We are having lunch with the in-laws and then heading up to Browns Plains to do a couple of things. We're hoping to catch a movie this afternoon as well. More than likely it will be 'Happy Feet' because we will have Miss Five with us but I really want to see 'Night at the Museum'.

This weekend is the big DigiScrapDivas shindig. A lot of the designers (myself included) are having a 25% off sale. There will be games in the forums (don't forget to check out my 'Name that Photo' comp), and also chats and crops most of the weekend.
Kim and I are launching our 'Chantilly Kit' and I will also have my newest set 'Cabradell' up in the store.
Hope to see you there.

Is the month almost over already?

Seriously, I must have blinked and missed it. Where did it go?

I've been pretty busy this month already. I enjoyed my couple of weeks off work but now I'm back and it's keeping me busy. I love that the hours now work around school hours. Which is great because Miss Five starts school next week! I can't believe my baby is going to school.
The Man of the House has taken two weeks off work. This week he is just spending heaps of time with the little girl. Lots of walks to the park and playing games of Trouble. He truly is the best Daddy. Next week he is off as well so that he can take her to school each day and pick her up each afternoon. He didn't want to miss her first week of school.
Of course she is all excited but also extremely nervous. She's worried that she won't know what to do and will get into trouble. We have all her books and uniforms organised (I just haven't covered the books yet). We still have to clean up her preschool shoes and check to make sure that they still fit and also buy her a new schoolbag, lunchbox and hat.

Designing - Well I've been pretty busy lately. I've reworked my Everyday Beauty kit, addons and alpha and put them up in the Digitals store with the name Everyday Beauty Too.

I'm also working on a new kit - Cabradell. I'm really excited with how this one is coming together. And coming in the next few days is a collab kit with one of the sweetest designers ever - Kim Hill. This is the second collab kit that I have done with Kim (the first was our Boy kit that we did for the Guardian Peas) and I just love working with her.
This weekend is the re-launch of DigiScrapDivas under new ownership and they have a weekend of awesome stuff planned. I am running a forum comp. The first prize is a kit of choice from my part of the DSD store, and the second is a $5 GC. There will be chats and comps all weekend, so plan to come along.
Don't forget the regular chats at DSD as well. Tonight at 10pm EST is a chat with Kim Hill. I'm hoping to get along to it, but seeing as that is lunch time and I have to get my housework done before I go to work this afternoon, it might be a little hard. But I'm certainly going to try.

I've scrapped a little over the past weeks. I scrapped a layout for the Defining Moments challenge at DSD about my weight. This layout is the photo that inspired my weight loss journey. I used 'A Passing Fancy' by Kim Hill. (Okay blogger is only going to let me post one photo on this post, so you can see the layout here.

Lastly, I've been tagged by Kim.
I have to share 5 'cool' things about me. I mean seriously? Me? Cool? My oldest children will tell you that those two words just don't go together. lol
So 5 cool things..... hmmm

1. I've lost 14kgs since last August (10 of those kilos in the past 10 weeks).
2. I have been asked to take promotional photos of work.
3. I have the best family in the world (except for teenage hormones - those things should be outlawed).
4. I get to meet Sharyn (Serene) tomorrow!
5. I've met Karen Hunt irl!! lol

Okay, now I tag
1. Karen Hunt - she's responsible for getting me into the digi thing
2. Lis - One of the best mummys I know
3. Sharon - (I've met her irl too). Great friend and CT member
4. Lisa C - Paper scrapper extraodinaire... we really should get together again girl
5. Sophia Davies - fellow designer, new mum and all-round sweetheart

I would have tagged Karin, but her blog is no longer! ;)

Happy New Year!

First of all I want to send a huge cyber hug to Melany (Mellykat) for fixing my broken blog. She is real sweetheart.
Second of all - I want to say thankyou to all of you who have emailed me or chatted to me over the past 12 months. You are all special to me and a girl needs her cyber buddies. Special thanks to Karin for being a great sounding board and always knowing the right thing to say when I need it.

First thing's first - DSD have launched the January Mega Kit. This kit is crammed to the rafters with great guy stuff. It will be available all of January but if you hurry in now, it's on sale until tomorrow evening for 20% off. You can find it here.

I don't know how many of you made it over to the DST Mega New Year's Eve party but I hosted a challenge there. You still have time to get in on the action because I close it off at midnight EST January 1. You could win my new Vintage Valentine Paper and Element Set or one of 2 gift certificates to my stores. Check out the thread here.

Okay, what's news with me?
I have just had 2 weeks off work and I go back tomorrow. Gee that time went quickly. But I have used it productively and I have put up Vintage Valentine Papers and Vintage Valentine Element Pack in the DSD Store.

Also new in the Digitals store is my Words of Passion wordart set. (Okay Blogger isn't letting me put the image, so I'll just post the link to it - here).

On the diet front - I haven't dieted for the past two weeks. I didn't quite reach my goal of 10kgs lost on the Tony Ferguson diet by Christmas but I did make 8.8kgs. That makes my total weight loss since August about 13kgs. You gotta be happy with that! And I am. But I'm going back on the diet tomorrow when I go back to work and my routine starts to get back to normal. I really found it hard to stick to it all with a house full of leftovers as well.
Well I think that is enough rambling for today. I don't make resolutions each year but I have promised myself to try and keep this blog a little more up to date this year. (Wish me luck)!
