The deliberations, ramblings, ponderings and sometimes humorous accounts of an addicted Digi scrapper and mother.

Name: Sue Jones
Location: Australia

I am a mother, a partner, a scrapper, a designer, a taxi driver, a spell checker etc etc and apparently life 'began' for me on my birthday two years ago. *edited to add*: It has been brought to my attention that some people don't understand what I mean by 'Life began for me last year'. It is just a polite way of telling you how old I really am as there is a saying here in Australia that "Life Begins at 40".

Playing Catchup

Let's see.....
My last post was talking about whether we would go to Movie World or not. We did!
Miss Five woke up and she was feeling great so we decided to go. Ms Mum-to-be decided to join us. After waiting 40 minutes to get through the front gates, we actually had not a bad day. Even with Miss Five wanting to go to the toilet every five minutes, running a temp and generally being grumpy. She actually brightened up enough and started to really enjoy herself in the last half hour we were there. However she didn't sleep at all that night and consequently we all went to work on Monday with our eyes hanging out of our heads.
Funnily enough, that night seemed to be the turning point for her and she has improved out of sight since then. She still thinks that she needs to wake up at midnight and bang and crash her way into our room and our bed and then proceed to kick the covers off most of the night.

What else has happened this past week?
I have been helping at work with organising our open day. And I spent most of yesterday at it. I sat here last night extremely tired and extremely disappointed in people. I'll get over it.
And... let's see.....
*Several recent posts at DST have got me rethinking the whole designing thing lately. I just seem to be running in circles at home anyway, and it will be one less stress I suppose. However, if I give it all up I lose a creative outlet and the source of income that is paying for my training.
Much thinking to be done. I have always thought that I designed quality product. However quality doesn't translate to sales.
*Tomorrow I am starting a 12 week Body for Life challenge.
We are looking at running these at the gym so the boss and I are starting one as a sort of 'quality control' type of thing. She's using different supplements to me and a different diet. The only thing that will be the same is our exercise plan. Part of me is so not looking forward to this and I'm second guessing my reasons for saying yes. The other part of me is hoping that I can stick with it and get great results. If I lose the extra weight and get more muscle definition then I'm gonna be one happy girl. This year I want to be able to get into a tankini at the beach instead of covering up.
I'll keep you all posted.
*Today, I'm off to the Parents & Babies expo with Ms Mum-to-Be and Miss Five. We're going into Brisbane on the train.

Okay, that will have to be it for the week. Enough of my demented rambling.
Have a wonderful week everyone. If I dont' post again soon, you'll know that the challenge has killed me! LOL

Happy 1st of July

So the old financial year is over and the new one just begun. How many aussie mums out there are busy calculating whether they estimated their projected income correctly to appease Centrelink's silly rules? I've given up on that. I work on a casual basis so my income varies from fortnight to fortnight. I'm pretty sure that I grossly over-estimated and then they cut my ftb off in early January (in case of overpayment). So I told them that forget paying me this year, I'll just claim it on my tax next year. No need to worry about overpayments then. *sigh*

So today we are possibly going to Warner Bros Movie World. Miss Five has been nagging us relentlessly for months now and we have a half price voucher on the fridge that is valid for the next few months starting today. When I say possibly, it all depends on a)The Man of the House's work. He's there right now doing his rounds. If there are issues then we won't have time to go down the Gold Coast for the day... and b)Miss Five. She has a cold but it just seems to be getting worse. I've changed her cough mixture, her antihistamine and everything but she's not getting any relief. She hardly sleeps all night and falls into a deep sleep at about 5am each morning (and she's in our bed as well most of the time). Last night she was running a temp most of the night. I didn't realise until she rolled over and put her hand on my face. Within 15 minutes of giving her panadol, the temp had gone. So she's still sleeping atm but I'm hoping she should be fine when she wakes up. She generally is so full of beans during the day anyway. And a day out in the sunshine (yes, we have beautiful weather today) will more than likely do her good.

In other family news, my son has just returned from a week away at a Scripture Union camp. This will be the last year that he can attend as he's now officially too old for it. The same crowd have been attending for the past few years and he's made some great friends. He was home for one night and then he went off to a party last night and is due home at some time today.
In some pretty scary news, my oldest daughter went for her mid-term ultrasound the other day. That's the one where they scan for obvious abnormalities etc. She rang me in tears as it appears that the baby has a small hole in it's heart. She was told not to worry as it would more than likely heal itself but she's worried sick anyway.
Well so is the prospective grandmother but I have to be strong for her. She found out what she's having as well. I'm 99% sure I know as well even though she didn't tell me. The only thing she said was that she was right about her gut feelings. Since I know she told me she was convinced she was having a girl, I'm pretty sure I'm going to have a little granddaughter in time for Christmas. Of course she could be just trying to trick me. lol

Okay, designing news!!
Going into my part of the SBE store on Sunday are these stitches. Also a 20% storewide sale happening there at the moment.

In the Digitals Store right now is a new set: Ella's Cottage. The set is available individually or as a set. So if you like the elements but not the papers, then you can get just the elements or vice versa. But if you'd like the whole set then you can buy it for $8.00 (that's a saving of $2.50 if you'd bought it individually). And keep watching Digitals as there is a storewide sale happening in the next couple of days!
You can find them here: Ella's Cottage Patterned Papers, Ella's Cottage Plain Papers and Ella's Cottage Elements. Or you find the whole set here.
