The deliberations, ramblings, ponderings and sometimes humorous accounts of an addicted Digi scrapper and mother.

My Photo
Name: Sue Jones
Location: Australia

I am a mother, a partner, a scrapper, a designer, a taxi driver, a spell checker etc etc and apparently life 'began' for me on my birthday two years ago. *edited to add*: It has been brought to my attention that some people don't understand what I mean by 'Life began for me last year'. It is just a polite way of telling you how old I really am as there is a saying here in Australia that "Life Begins at 40".

Still alive.... but it doesn't feel too good!!

What a horrendous past couple of weeks I have had. I had one week at work that was truly abysmal resulting in a meltdown in front of the boss that had her very concerned for me. And then the weekend of my birthday (which was supposed to be my weekend off). I got 3 calls from work asking me to cover shifts but I said no to them all. And then the day after my birthday (after spending a wonderful day with the Man of the House), I got sick that night. Then spent the next week in bed with the damn 'flu. I have never felt such pain. I was heating up the heat pack to put to various parts of my body... and hot showers have never felt so darn good.
So this week, I am alive... but now have a head cold! Gotta love winter in Australia!

Okay, now that the state of my health is out of the way lets get to my 10 random facts.
1. I have scrapped a couple of layouts (shared below) but I'm not scrapping much right now because I have a couple of projects on the go and also have a huge assignment due next week for my Cert 3 in Disability Care.
2. We went to the Ekka on Monday. I'm certainly pleased that I only go every blue moon because the crowds were incredible. Miss Six was over the moon. There was so much to see and do. We saw so much and ate too much... and bought home too many show bags filled with chocolate!
3. Whilst at the show I had two brushes with fame. The first was being steamrolled in the Qld Govt Pavilion by a media crew that had the Premier Anna Bligh in the centre of it. Got a quick snapshot before news crews pushed me out of the way. The second was with Big Wal from the first Aussie Biggest Loser. He was promoting the Fireman's Calendars that raise money for the burns units at the Royal Children's Hospital. I bought a calendar and he signed it for me. I asked if I could get a photo and he said yes and got me in this bear hug. The MOTH dutifully took a photo (under duress) using one hand and no flash. The photo is blurred *sigh* but I'm going to try to save it.
4. I managed to get two of Sara Douglas' books read whilst sick last week. I'm eagerly waiting for her third book to be released. According to her website (that was last updated in May) she is almost finished writing her third book. With luck it may be out before Christmas.
5. I am getting frustrated with my weight gain but have no motivation to exercise. My diet (whilst not perfect) is not all the trouble. It is my lack of exercise. I know that I need to do this but find it hard to do something about it.
6. I drove a manual car (well ute) yesterday for the first time in um.... let me think... a lot of years. I needed to take one of the work utes yesterday for my shift. It was an interesting trip to Brisbane and back but we made it in one piece and no marks on the car! :)
7. My birthday came and went quietly. My little girl gave me a framed b&w portrait of a very young Elvis Presley. The MOTH bought me a bunch of flowers and then picked some gorgeous roses and lavender from the garden as well. No present from him as yet. Since it was his birthday 6 days later we are contemplating getting a Wii. The only trouble with that idea is keeping it away from sundry other peoples in this house!
8. I'm really enjoying the Olympics right now. Discovered a show on in the mornings called Yum Cha with Andrew Daddo, Sonia Kruger, Tom (gosh.can't.think.of.his.last.name.right.now) and Rebecca Wilson. It's pretty fun. But I'm enjoying watching the sports as well. Only time in my life that you will find me glued to the tv watching sports.

I'm actually going to leave this at 8 facts today because I have to go into work to work on my Cert 3 assignment this morning. And I have my family coming for lunch today as well.
Here's a couple of layouts from me. All credits are in my SA Gallery.

101!

Thanks for the title post Helen! :)

I'm only going to do my 10 random facts this post. I was going to put some more holiday photos but don't really feel like resizing them right now. And I haven't scrapped for over 2 weeks. Not really feeling like it at the moment.

Random Facts:
1. Had an incident at work last week that has rattled me. It involved me fearing my safety. I'm not getting over it like I thought I would and spend a lot of time either crying or sleeping. I have been through worse crap in my life than this so I'm angry that this is affecting me like it is. Yesterday, I had a really, really bad day with a client as well. This resulted in me melting down in front of my boss who is now concerned for my safety (and sanity).
2. The MOTH who hasn't said anything but I think is worried about me offered to take me to the movies last weekend. We didn't get there on the weekend but on Wednesday night we all went to see 'Mamma Mia'. I absolutely adored it (especially Pierce Brosnan with no shirt), Miss Six thought it was fun (her fave bit is when someone in the movie does an Elvis impersonation) and the MOTH is fence sitting. He neither loved it nor hated it and thinks that Pierce Brosnan singing is just wrong! lol I also loved the cameos from Benny and Bjorn.
3. Miss Six is sick - again!!! Will it never end? We've told her that she has to eat properly and get well or we won't be going to the Ekka!
4. We are planning a trip to the Ekka when it's on. I haven't been to it in about 10 years and Miss Six has never been. We're lucky that although she adores rides and sample bags, she also loves seeing cattle, birds and stuff. So that makes the day fill out a bit more.
5. Little Miss Ava is still adorable - but you all knew I was going to say that. I now look after her two days a week. The other day when she arrived is the first time that she recognised me and smiled and put her arms out for me to take her. I was over the moon. However, the fact that she only wants Ma all the time wears a little thin - especially when I have things to do and she doesn't want anything to do with Pa or her little aunt.
6. Ava's mummy is now showing her belly. It's pretty noticeable. She is due for her 18 week scan any day.
7. I have been told the proposed names for the new baby and I freaked out over the girl one (too many bad memories with a person of the same name). I asked if I could give her a nickname and was told that I could. lol And no... I'm not telling the names as I've been sworn to secrecy.
8. This weekend is my birthday - and I've also got the weekend off from work. We're planning on doing the markets on Saturday but apart from that we have no other plans. I think I'm more excited about having the weekend off than having a birthday!
9. I have finished reading 'The Kite Runner' by Khaled Hosseini. I really enjoyed it. I thought for a time that it was a true story but eventually realised that although the events are based in fact, the characters are fictitious. However, it is extremely eye opening. I am now reading 'Sophie's Journey' by Sally Collings. The whole book is a series of interviews with people associated with Sophie Delezio. I'm enjoying it and finding it extremely interesting. I think when someone is constantly in the media, you forget that this is a normal little girl undergoing life threatening conditions and the impact that it has on her and those closest to her is often unnoticed. I'd recommend it.
10. I'm loving the cold weather at the moment. The amazing thing about cold weather and bracing winds is the ability to make me feel alive!

That's about it for this week. Sorry it isn't much. Maybe next week I'll have a layout or two to share.
